程序及惯例

The following procedures and 实践 must be followed with respect to student use of service animals on campus:

  • (一)调查. The University shall not ask about the nature or extent of a person's disability, but may make two inquiries to determine whether an animal qualifies as a service animal. The University may ask if the animal is required because of a disability and what work or task the animal has been 训练有素的 to perform. 大学不要求提供文件, 比如证明动物已经通过认证, 训练有素的, 或者获得服务性动物的执照. 一般, the University may not make these inquiries about a service animal when it is readily apparent that an animal is 训练有素的 to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability (e.g., the dog is observed guiding an individual who is blind or has low vision, 拉一个人的轮椅, or providing assistance with stability or balance to an individual with an observable mobility disability).

  • (C)附加费. The University shall not ask or require an individual with a disability to pay a surcharge, even if people accompanied by pets are required to pay fees, or to comply with other requirements generally not applicable to people without pets. If the University normally charges individuals for the dam年龄 they cause, an individual with a disability may be charged for dam年龄 caused by his or her service animal.
  • (D) The University may ask the individual with a disability to remove a service animal from the premises if:
  • (1) The animal is out of control and the animal's handler does not take effective action to control it; or
  • 这只动物没有被驯养.
  • (E)动物是否被适当地排除在外. 如果学校适当地排除了服务性动物, it shall give the individual with a disability the opportunity to participate in the service, 程序, or activity without having the service animal on the premises.
  • (F)在处理人控制下的动物. 服务性动物应受其训练员的控制. 服务性动物应有挽具, 皮带, 或者其他系绳, unless either the handler is unable because of a disability to use a harness, 皮带, 或者其他系绳, 或者使用挽具, 皮带, 或者其他系绳 would interfere with the service animal's safe, 有效地完成工作或任务, in which case the service animal must be otherwise under the handler's control (e.g.、语音控制、信号或其他有效手段).
